Lisa Fanucci-Dario is hosting a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event in downtown Fredericksburg, Va on Sunday, May 3rd,2015 at 1:00pm (immediately following the Great Train Race). The walk is to bring awareness to the seriousness of domestic violence and raise money forEmpowerhouse.
Walkers and spectators will meet at the commuter lot in downtown Fredericksburg where Susan Spears-President Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce will conduct the opening ceremony.
Immediately following the opening ceremony walkers will Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®, literally! Men will slip into a pair of red high heels to show they're support for the cause!
Walkers and spectators will walk to the Inn at the Olde Silk Mill, where there will be a silent auction, food & beverages, and a closing ceremony.
Doug Searcy-UMW Vice President for Student Affairs will address the serious causes, effects and remediations to men's sexualized violence against women in the closing ceremony.
Trolley Tours of Fredericksburg will assist in getting walkers and spectators back to their vehicles following the closing ceremony.
Walkers can register to walk as an individual, family, or team. This is a great opportunity for businesses to show their love for our community by putting a large team together. This will also give walkers someone to lean on during the walk (balancing in heels can be tricky!!!).
Teams ideas; College, High School, and League Sports Teams, Fraternities, Restaurants, Businesses, Teachers, Stylists, Car Dealerships, Friends, Families, Real Estate Offices, Lenders........(you get the idea!).
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® sponsors are needed!! If you or your business would like to support this important cause, please call Lisa Fanucci-Dario for more information (540) 322-7377. There are many opportunities for you and your business to get involved.
